Anneyong my lovelies! I thought I'd post a little wish list on what I'm planning on getting in prep for uni this year (^__^)

I think the colour for this year for my wardrobe is going to be stuff like dark purples, maroons, and dark greens. I've been really feeling those colours lately, and I know for sure that once my money comes in I'm going to spend it on updating my wardrobe with a lot stuff in these colours! They just feel so wintery, I love it~ I'm actually looking forward to the cold winter.. I know I'm strange but come on, you know you are too really!

I'm in dire need of some new jeans, and Dorothy Perkins never fails to let me down in the jeans department. Their petite sizes are perfect length and fit for me, I'm so glad I found them because it's really hard to find jeans that fit me because I'm on the short side.

Shoes wise, I have some already but I need a new pair of mid-calf-length kinda boots like I did last year, but they're ruined now so I need to replace them ASAP. I think I've found the perfect ones here in New Look, but I'm going to try them out in store before I buy them. I'm really picky when it comes to shoes haha.

Speaking of being picky.. I'm quite picky when it comes to choosing a bag. And now I can't choose between these two. I might end up buying them both (which is a first) I actually love them that much, and they both will fit my netbook easily, which doesn't make the decision any easier (>.<)

Oh and last but not least, headphones to drown out the world while I work and study. My trusty old JVC headphones broke a long time ago and I haven't had a decent pair since. I don't really know which ones to get yet, but I do know I really want some in red that are similar to these! (^__^)

Have you prepared for uni yet? Or doing it all last minute like me? :P

April Favourites ♥

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH SPRING IS HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

*runs through a field Bollywood movie style, her scarf flying in the wind, violins playing in the background*

Erm.. okay so I'm not quite that happy LMAO, but you get what I mean XD Seriously though, I'm so glad the sun is out now. It has finally led me to putting some colour into my life. Let me show you where..

April 2013 favourites ft MAC Fanfare lipstick

1. The Body Shop's Body, Room & Linen Spray in Pomegranate & Raspberry - Long time readers might recognise this from my 'Five Favourites Friday: The Body Shop' post I did last year. I've been using this a lot lately, because it reminds me of summer and I just want it to hurry up and get here already! It smells gorgeous and fruity and I still have not finished it. I swear I've had it for about two years? I've no idea how this hasn't finished, I use it soooooooo much!!

2. MAC Cremesheen lipstick in Fanfare* - I won this in a blog giveaway last year and it just ended up being left in the back of my drawer because autumn had already kicked in and it didn't seem like an autumn colour to me. But now I don't really care what season it is, I wear what I feel like. (^__^) So I've been pulling his out when I feel like I want to wear a lighter colour than my usual MLBB lipsticks.

[Left: - MAC Fanfare, right - Revlon Lipbutter in Wild Watermelon]

 3. Revlon Lipbutter in Wild Watermelon - Bought this a few weeks ago and have been loving it ever since! I was a little afraid of it at first, but this is seriously the most wearable red ever. Well, from the three I've ever worn LOL. But honestly, it gives a beautiful wash of colour. I tend to wear this when my face is looking a little dead.. it really brightens up my face!

4. Florals - mainly asian clothes, but I have been wearing some floral hijaabs too. I even bought a new one the other day! :) I like this one because it's long enough to wrap around my head twice to make it opaque so you can't see my hair underneath, but also is thin enough to keep me cool at the same time (^__^)

Gosh I've been colourful this month. It's like I'm a whole different person. I didn't realise the sun could have such an affect on me. (>.<) What have you been loving lately? (^__^)

Disclaimer: Everything was bought by me by with my own money, apart from the MAC lipstick as mentioned before in the post. :D

April 2013 Wishlist ♥

April 2013 Wishlist ♥

April 2013 Wishlist ♥ by themaryfairy

Ayoooo how's it going you lovely lot? All good, I hope! I thought I'd make a little wishlist of things I need (and want) to buy, because I've noticed I don't forget things when I do these^^

I mean it's not a very exciting wishlist, it's mainly things I need if I'm honest.. but anyway.. LEGGO~

1. Maxi skirts - in loads of colours!
Spring is finally here and summer is on the way too, and I can finally start wearing maxi skirts without freezing my backside off. Ever since I started university I've come to the conclusion that I'm more comfortable in skirts - jeans and trousers on me annoy me a bit, especially in warmer weather.

2. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Natural
I'm dangerously close to finishing my last face powder and with the weather getting warmer I know my makeup will just slide off my face if I don't set it, and my face will shine like nobodys business even on those days when I go without makeup.

3. Bow rings
WANT! I love bows and I still have not found a bow ring that I like yet. I like the look of this one, I wonder if they have it in any other colours.. off to accessorize I go! Yay for belated birthday gift cards ;D

4. H&M Bag
The bag I've been using for uni is on its last legs. It's battered, scruffy, and doesn't have enough space to hold all my stuffs. :[ Next time I get a chance I'm going to see if this one is sturdy enough to do the job^^

Just noticed I only have one thing that I 'want' & not 'need'! Woohoo for being an adult :P What's on YOUR wishlist? (^__^)

Modestly Stylish: Formal Dinner Party Outfit

Modestly Stylish: Formal Dinner Party Outfit

Modestly Stylish: Formal Dinner Party Outfit by themaryfairy

Empire line dress by Chic Nova - £24.58  / H&M Jacket - £29.99 / Black Zip Bistretch Slim Leg Trousers from New Look - £9.99  / Blink Patent Mid Heel Court Shoe from Republic - £20 / Rare London Studded Skull Clasp Bag - £20 Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner - £17 / Benefit They're Real mascara - £18.50

Hey there my lovelies, hope you're all well~

I'm back today with another Modestly Stylish outfit for you, and today's theme is a formal dinner outfit. Black and beige are my go to colours, because they just look so classy together and they suit just about everyone too.

I'm loving H&M's blazers at the moment, I actually just bought a black blazer the other day from H&M and the quality is brilliant. My very first blazer was actually from there too, it's been two years and it still looks brand new!

For the trousers I thought they were a pretty good price for some smart but slim legged trousers. I don't particularly like the zips but they'll be covered by the dress anyway (^__^)

I love the dress, not too form fitting but gives your waist a little definition all the same. A nice simple, classy dress that you can dress up or down should be a staple in every girls wardrobe. I'd personally would obviously wear a top underneath this.

Everyone's loving the studded craze these days so I thought I'd throw in a lovely studded bag, which I have to say I really like despite studs not being my thing! And as for the shoes.. well you can't go wrong with a pair of nude shoes can you? Plus I read somewhere that nude shoes make your legs look longer.. something short girls like me wouldn't mind having hehe.

I'd keep my makeup simple, maybe do the 'cat eye' liner style (if I ever get it right.. I can never get it even! >.<) and maaaaaaaybe a red lip if I was feeling brave. :P

What do you wear to a formal dinner party?

My Favourite Hijaab Accessories ♥

I don't consider myself a very fashionable person if I'm honest. I don't have the time to do anything extra in the mornings apart from making sure my face doesn't look like I rose from the dead five minutes ago.

I just throw on my clothes, hijaab & a bit of makeup and RUN LIKE HELL (because I'm usually running late.. heh).

Hijaab accessories

But when I do have time, I like to accessorize my hijaab.  (^__^) Unless it's a really loud printed one then I just leave it at that. Not that I own many loudly printed hijaabs.. but I digress. :P

1. Bows

BOWS! If you know me in person, you know I love bows. Bows are just so.. me! I don't know why, but they just are. I have to stop myself from buying more bows, because I know that I will just not use them as much as I use my neutral coloured ones (I wear a lot of neutral colours.. you can probably tell by the picture xD). I got these from Peacocks a while ago, but you can also get similar ones from Claires and New Look.

2. Brooches

Before I realised bows were my thing, I went through a phase of loving brooches. I have a few, but these are  the ones I've used the most. I remember finding them in Accessorize a couple of years ago, and they're still in perfect condition; Accessorize do really good quality stuff! On days when I'm feeling confident in my skin and clothes and have woken up a little early and have had a lot of sleep the night before, I wear one, because it just adds that finishing touch to my outfit and makes me feel all pretteh (for once xD).

3. Headbands

I have quite a few headbands, but this one almost always goes with my fancy Asian clothes because a lot of the Asian outfits I have have gold in them. There's something about this one that makes me look like I've put in more effort - which I have if you think about it, some of the scarves that come with Asian suits are horrendously slippy! Again, you can get these at Claires or New Look.

4. Feathers

I have a couple of variations of this. A stretchy headband with blue and brown feathers, a slide with a string of dark brown feathers, and this alice band version too! I got this from Topshop for about £2.50 down from a tenner - BARGAIN! I don't really wear my feathery stuff on formal outings, more so when its a birthday or we're celebrating something. I don't know feathers don't seem that formal to me so I stick to brooches on those occasions :P

What kinds of things do you accessorise your hijaab with? (^__^)
And if you don't wear one.. what do you use to accessorise your hair? :D

P.S. excuse the horrendous lighting in the pic. It took me forever to get a good photo, and even longer to edit it! Stupid British weather -___-

Modestly Stylish: Keeping It Casual ☺

Modestly Stylish: Keeping It Casual

Modestly Stylish: Keeping It Casual by themaryfairy

ASOS skater dress with lace top - £11 / ASOS Metal Keeper Across Body Bag - £15 / H&M Chinos - £14.99 / Navy dip hem crew neck trimarl top from Dorothy Perkins - £8 / Old Navy Womens Ballet Wedges - £19.51 / A|Wear Ecru Pashmina - £8 / Posietint by Benefit Cosmetics - £24.50 / OPI nail polish in Samoan Sand - £15.95

As the days get shorter and the evenings colder, and with uni starting next week, my friends and I decided to get out of the house while we could and went to Starbucks to have a nice little catch up.

I was in a lazy mood that day, so I decided to go with my fail safe colours - blue and beige. As always. I'm so edgy, I know. :P

I had purchased the dress from the ASOS sale a couple of weeks ago and I love it! The fabric is pure cotton jersey, and when worn with a long sleeved top underneath, it keeps me warm, toasty, and quite modest indeed (^__^)

When I realised I had gotten ready early, I decided to play with some makeup. I put Posietint on my lips and some winged eyeliner. I quite liked the look on me..

..until I realised that my room was a bit darker than usual (it was quite overcast outside) and I had put too much Posietint on! I ended up looking like a wannabe Adele, and not in a good way either :o/

My friends assured me I looked fine though, but I still thought I looked ridiculous - I was more shy than usual that day. Maybe it's because I'm not used to wearing a lot of makeup..

Or maybe I'm just being paranoid. Gosh Mary, calm down *slaps self*

Anyhoo. What's your fail safe colour or item(s) of clothing? I get the feeling I'll be wearing this dress a lot this year haha >.<

Modestly Stylish: Back to Uni Outfit ft Dorothy Perkins

Modestly Stylish: Back to Uni #1

Petite Bow Pleats Front Dress from Dorothy Perkins - £20 /  Khaki Flat Front Chinos from Dorothy Perkins - £5 / Fat Face Trinity Fall Cardigan - £20 / H&M imitation Suede wedge shoes in Beige - £24.99 /  Benefit High Beam - £18.50 / OPI nail polish in Did You Ear About Van Gogh - £11

How is it September already?! This year has flown by!

With school and uni just around the corner - unless you've already started - I thought I'd show you what I'm planning on wearing on my first day back at uni In Shaa Allah (^__^)

I got the chinos and dress in the Dorothy Perkins sale the other day, and I love them to bits! I love the cute bow print so much.. I've always had a thing for bows

The chinos may look short on the model but for me they're long enough to cover half of my wedge heel. I love the fabric on this, it feels really high quality and I got it for £4 with my student discount - it was originally £25!

The wedges I have are from New Look but I couldn't find them on Polyvore - they are similar to these H&M ones, but mine aren't suede and the wedge has a bit of a cork-y kind of pattern.

I haven't worn them much since I got them last year but I love them and want to start wearing them more, so I thought I'd start straight away. :P

Also, you should all know by now that I'm not one to wear nail polish but I absolutely love the name for this: 'Did You Ear About Van Gogh?' haha, makes me grin everytime!

I've also been loving High Beam lately. It's been neglected for a while, much like my wedges, but I really have been into it lately - I mix it in with my under eye concealer when I look like I haven't slept for a week - really helps get rid of the zombie look that I've been sporting a lot these days.. xD

Have you decided what you're going to be wearing on the first day of school/uni yet? Or is this just a strange thing that I only do? >.<

Modestly Stylish: Mustard ☺

Modestly Stylish: Mustard ☺

Well, it's August everyone. I don't think Summer is coming this year. So here's some outfit inspiration to take you from (what we wish was) summer to our reliable old friend Autumn.

I've always thought that mustard is a much more wearable colour than yellow. I've never been able to wear yellow because I'm too shy to wear such a bold colour - it's just not me I suppose >.<

And while I don't ever wear a pair of trousers and a top, I thought I'd throw together a few for the ones that do, along with a selection of different mustard coloured tops - all on sale! Love it!

What's your favourite Summer-to-Autumn colour? :o)

Sale Picks: AX Paris

Sale Picks: AX Paris

AX Paris Chiffon Plain Skater Dress - £19.99    AX Paris strapless maxi dress in Orange and Stone - £12    AX Paris Tribal Print Top -  £7.99    AX Paris Heart Print Sleeveless Shift Dress - £15

So I was on Polyvore, trying to pull together a muslimah friendly, modest OOTD, and came across a few reasonably priced and rather cute items from AX Paris. I went on their website and found out that they had a sale on!

Which made me think why not share my picks from the sale? The ones I was drawn to were the ones I thought would be the most modest and versatile, in my opinion.

The plain skater dress could be dressed up or down - either with a leather jacket or a blazer. The maxi's are opaque, and can be used for summer or winter - just change the type of leggings you wear underneath. Plus, the colours will lead you into autumn/winter - always a bonus.

The tribal print top tucked into a navy blue pleated maxi skirt (or a pair of trousers). The heart print shift dress would be good for work. Just whack a blazer on and bam! Smart casual, at the very least.

On a side note, if you know me personally, you will know that navy blue is my favourite colour to wear. I know, I'm really boring when it comes to colour choices. :P

As you can probably see my preference for the colour has influenced my choice from the sale >.< I can't help it, it's a fail safe colour for me - if I don't know what to wear, I go with blue. Always works for me!

Anyhoo.. moving on from my obsession with blue, I just thought I'd let you all know that they're also doing a free standard delivery offer for all orders over £45 for the UK and over £60 for Europe. Standard delivery is £2.95 for UK mainland, £5.95 for Northern & Southern Ireland, and £5.95 for Europe.

For the lovelies in the USA, you get free shipping for orders over $50! Pretty good considering there's a lot of good things on offer at the moment.

Has anything caught your eye from the AX Paris sale?

Modestly Stylish: Peaches and Cream ☺

Modestly Stylish: Peaches and Cream

Can you believe it's already July and it's still raining here in England? Alas, it seems like Summer has forgotten to visit us this year. Or maybe she's mad because on her last visit we were all dying for the rain instead.. xD

But fear not! There is still time left for her to come :P In the mean time, I shall be cranking out the summery outfit posts. I'm getting into lighter, peachy/pinky/corally type colours now.
Subconcious, wishful thinking? Probably. *sigh* I just want to wear my skirts already. >.<

Also, I really want that blush. Every time I walk into Topshop I swatch this. It's so pretty! It looks neon in the pan but on the cheeks it gives a lovely flush of colour (^__^)

Have you had your eye on anything lately?

Am I the only one who is wondering when the rain is going to stop? I for one, can't wait until I can start wearing my maxi skirts again ♥ at least not without freezing to death and/or coming into the house looking like a wet, bedraggled cat that's been left out in the storm overnight. (-__-)

Anyone else out there longing to pull out their summer clothes yet? Or is it just me?

Modestly Stylish: Orange. ☻

Orange. ☺

H&M dress£15 ♦ Wallis chino pants: £29.50 ♦ Wet Seal cork wedge heels: £22.56

Ever since H&M's Spring/Summer Catalogue arrived through the letterbox one rather rare, sunny morning here in the usually wet and dreary part of the world I like to call home, I've been dreaming of blistering heat and bright blue skies - not to mention a hankering for that bright orange dress!

Is there anything that's got you dreaming of summer lately?
